Proper Size Portraits:
The proper portrait size is based on the face size of the subject. The face
should be Three to seven inches in height. The proper viewing distance is
halfway across a normal size room or about ten feet. Miniature portraits are
8x10 and smaller, Miniatures should be displayed in wall groupings as a
compliment portrait to a “anchor portrait” or “main portrait” which are usually
16x20 or larger. Miniature portraits can also be placed in fine custom albums.
In this manner they can be viewed while being held.
Following is a chart showing the proper size portraits based on the number of
people In a portrait.
Two faces 16x10
three faces 20x24
Four faces 24x30
five or more 30x40
There are of course other factors involved in choosing the proper size portrait.
Ceiling height, wall width and furniture in a room, are all things which may be
discussed in detail during the ordering process.
